Ever notice screen flicker when you're using your computer? Do you get headaches or have unusual eye strain when you're using your computer? Changing the monitor's refresh rate to a higher value should reduce screen flicker. It could also fix other unstable display issues. Adjusting the refresh rate setting is usually only helpful with older CRT type monitors, not newer LCD "flat screen" style displays.

While this fact hasn't changed from one version of Windows to the next, the way you get here has. Follow any specific advice for your version of Windows as you follow along below. Checking and changing the refresh rate setting in Windows should take less than 5 minutes and is really easy.

Open Control Panel. In Windows 10, you can instead right-click the desktop and choose Display settings. If you go this route, skip down to Step 3. Select Display from the list of applets in the Control Panel window. If so, change the view to Small icons or Classic Viewdepending on your version of Windows, and then look for it again. In Windows 10, if you're viewing the Settings screen, scroll down the right pane and choose Advanced display settings.

Choose the monitor you want to change the refresh rate for assuming you have more than one monitor. In Windows 10, from the Settings screen, choose Display adapter properties. In most cases, the best choice is the highest rate possible, especially if you're seeing a flickering screen or think a low refresh rate might be causing headaches or other problems.

Choosing refresh rates outside this range could damage your video card or monitor. Follow any additional instructions if they appear on the screen. With most computer setups, in most versions of Windows, changing the refresh rate won't require any further steps, but other times you may need to restart your computer. Tweet Share Email.

In Windows Vista, open Personalization instead. Select Advanced settings. This is a button in Windows Vista. In Windows XP, choose the Advanced button. Choose the Monitor tab in the smaller window that appears. Other open windows can be closed, too.

Graphic Design Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for Graphic Design professionals, students, and enthusiasts. It only takes a minute to sign up. I have created a complex Photoshop timeline animation as opposed to a simple frame animation that I would like to slow down.

By "slow down" I mean increase the time between each frame and correspondingly increase the total duration of the animation. If this was a frame animation it would be easy, but I can't figure out how to do it for a timeline animation. I see that I can adjust the frame rate of the animation, but doing so keeps the total duration the same, whereas I want to adjust the frame rate and the total duration simultaneously.

I'm looking for a solution that does not involve adjusting the frame rate and then manually adjusting all my keyframes because I have too many to make that an easy process.

In Photoshop's timeline window, right click the layer. The options for duration and speed should open! Perhaps you missed it or click the "don't show again option". But this essentially tells you the layer structure is changing, which adds a "Video Group" to the Layers panel, and converts the video layer to a Smart object note the icon in the bottom right of the layer thumbnail is differnt. This will open a new window containing that video clip. Your layers will look like this:.

You can only adjust speed and duration when a video layer is highlighted, because you're then changing the video clip, rather than its possible encompassing smart object. This works, but it does somewhat depend upon the layer structure of your file regarding where you have to click. I just checked and fastest method I could find without writing a Script or Action is to use AnimDessin2 which is great and should be used anyways then do it keyframe by keyframe.

Might be able to turn this into an Action to make it only one button but I'm not sure, I've never tried using Plugins with Actions or Shortcuts.

You can select all frames in a "frame animation" by clicking on the first, holding shift and then scrolling to the last, and clicking that one.

When all frames are selected, you can change the "Delay" amount by clicking the downward arrow on the bottom of each frame. The delay defines the wait time between one frame and the next. Sign up to join this community.

Does anyone know how to fetch the number of total frames from a video file using ffmpeg? The render output of ffmpeg shows the current frame and I need the frame count to calculate the progress in percent. Default is to not ignore the edit list. It will output a large amount of information. In this example the input has video frames:.

That's what I do and it works great for me, and many others. First, find the length of the video in the below snippet:. You'll should be able to consistently and safely find Duration: hh:mm:ss.

Then, for each update line CR, no LF you can parse the text for the current time mark it is at:. Just becareful to not always expect perfect output from these status lines. They can include error messages like here:. Not all formats store their frame count or total duration - and even if they do, the file might be incomplete - so ffmpeg doesn't detect either of them accurately by default. Instead, try seeking to the end of the file and read the time, then count the current time while you go.

You first need to convert the time into seconds and then divide the number of frames by seconds to get "frames per second". Sorry for the necro answer, but maybe will need this as I didn't found a solution for recent ffmpeg releases. At the end it will output frame count. It worked for me on videos with audio. Learn more. Re: Reading an animated gif frames rate 1 year ago. Hi, GIFs don't necessarily have a constant framerate.

As far is i know every frame can have its own delay, until the next frame is displayed. Unfortunately the gifAnimation-library seems to have no public fields or methods to access these delays. But looking into the source-code helps to create your own function to extract them. For example with this code: import gifAnimation. Leave a comment on benja's reply. Hi Benja, A gif can be played whatever frame rate you want. But they are set originally on a particular frame rate.

If you read the animation with the incorrect frame rate it will goes too slow or too fast, depending. I tried your code and it print the number of frame right? You're right, if we divide the number of frame we are able to calculate the average frame rate. The problem is that some of the gif, even after setting an average frame rate, go very slow or very fast 'cause they have a very different frame rate. How do our internet navigators do to know at what frame rate they have to read it?

Leave a comment on romeedelabigne's reply. Hi, my code doesn't print the number of frames, it prints the delay for every frame. As set in the original gif-file When the delay for the different frames are not equal, setting an average framerate is a bad solution. You could use the delays from the file to set the display-time for every single frame when you draw them in your sketch. Example: import gifAnimation. Hi Benja! I was abroad, sorry for the late. Hey, looked at your code and i see two things, you should change: 1.
